More than just the sum of its parts
The new Hybrid City Multi-System (HVRF) is the world’s first 2-line system for simultaneous cooling and heating with heat recovery technology that combines the advantages of a direct evaporation system with those of a water-based system. The technology is based on the City Multi R2 heat pump system from Mitsubishi Electric. The HVRF system consists of an R2 outdoor unit from the City Multi series and the new Hybrid BC controller that enables energy to be transferred from the refrigerant to the inner water circuit. The indoor units in the system are fitted with water coils.

Also available with R32
The modern Hybrid VRF systems work with City Multi VRF outdoor units using R32. The combination of a reduced refrigerant capacity and low GWP value lowers the system’s CO2 equivalent rating to below 21% compared to conventional VRF systems using R410A. This is lower than the rate that must be achieved by 2030, stipulated by the F-Gas regulations. Standard-compliant installation: The Hybrid VRF technology means you are able to enjoy all the benefits of a VRF system and remain in compliance with applicable standards even when using R32 refrigerant.

System comparison: Less is more
Planning and installing a 2-line system gives you more flexibility and is significantly easier than installing a cold water unit and an additional heat generator with four lines. For example, City Multi systems require no additional pumps, tanks or reversing valves. 2-line systems have significantly fewer points at which connections must be made, thus reducing potential leaks and making the system more reliable and easier to maintain.
