Bänninger K65® fittings and the K65® pipe system can be used in all areas of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning. They are suitable for use with all common safety refrigerants, particularly CO2 (R744). K65® fittings can be used for pressures up to 120 bar in the -40 to 120 °C temperature range with further individual testing. Connection dimensions of the K65® fittings match perfectly with the dimensions of the K65® pipes and correspond to the inch measurements in DIN EN 12735-1. K65® is similar to pure copper to work with and can be connected to pure copper components if needed (e.g. in the transition area to pieces of equipment). K65® fittings and pipes are usually connected using hard solder. Silver-bearing solders with a silver content of at least 2% have proven to be the best option. Solders with a high silver content (Ag solders) and without phosphorus, have better flow characteristics and are recommended for difficult to access areas or complex assemblies. These solders stand out for filling gaps better and form better channels. It is not usually necessary to use flux when soldering K65® fittings and pipes with silver-bearing solders containing phosphorus (CuP solders). Flux must be used when making hard soldered K65® connections using copper alloys (gunmetal, brass) and when using silver-bearing solders with a phosphorus content.
