The Inficon TEK-Mate refrigerant leak detectors contains an electronic sensor made from a ceramic substrate that is coated with a reactive element and is kept at a high temperature by an integrated heating element. If a halogen-containing gas comes into contact with the hot surface, chlorine, fluorine or bromine atoms are separated from the molecule and ionised. This causes an electrical current to flow within the ceramic towards a collector electrode in the centre.
Suitable for CFC, HCFC, HFC and replacements such as R404a and R410a with approx. the same response time.
Various background contaminants are automatically compensated for so that no manual settings need to be made by the user. In order to help find leaks, the TEK-Mate features an acoustic intensity signal and a single blinking LED.
