This series includes semi-hermetic piston compressors with two, three and eight cylinders for normal and low temperature cooling applications as well as for use in high temperature process cooling or air conditioning. The main difference between Discus and conventional piston devices lies in the design of the valve plate. The Discus valve plate allows gas to enter the cylinder with minimal heat absorption whilst the cavities on the intake side evenly guide the gas and keep losses to a minimum. These effects have the following benefits:
Top class cooling performance due to the lack of dead space
Up to 10% efficiency increase compared to conventional “cost-effective” suction tongue compressors
Lower operating costs for the end user
The Discus series ranges from 5 to 60 hp with a displacement of 16.8 to 181 m3/h. These compressors are approved for use with refrigerants R407A/F/C, R448A/R449A, R404A, R134a, R450A and R513A. All Discus compressors are designed for maximum performance and reliability:
The “puck” shaped Discus valve integrated into the valve plate provides maximum power in all operation conditions. Displacement pumps with fast flowing oil guarantee a high oil supply pressure to ensure good lubrication and bearing cooling.

Two motor sizes available for each displacement capacity. The smaller motor is suitable for all refrigeration applications, whereas the larger design can be used for air conditioning and frequency inverter applications
