These oil pressure monitors are differential pressure switches with a timing relay and manual reset that provide reliable protection from low lubricating oil pressure in pressure-lubricated refrigerant compressors. The pressure switches measure the pressure differential (“effective oil pressure”) between the pressure generated by the oil pump and refrigerant pressure in the crankcase. A time delay relay allows the pressure to build as the compressor starts up and prevents the compressor from being prematurely shut off during brief drops in oil pressure.
