Introduction of models ZR94K - ZR190K as successor to the previous models ZR90K - ZR19M
The new ZR models are available now in the Copeland product catalogue with power ratings ranging from 20 kW - 40 kW (EN12900, HT, R407C). The new series (ZR94K, 108, 125, 144, 160 & 190) replaces the older series ZR90K – ZR19M. An additional model has also been introduced (ZR144K) that bridges the gap in the 30 kW power range.
Technical changes and key new features of the new series
• The external complete motor protection module for the motor and hot gas temperature monitoring system is no longer required.
• Thermal protection of the electromotor is handled by Klixon switch at the neutral point of the coils.
• The hot gas temperature is monitoring an entirely internal protection system (ASTP “Advanced Scroll temperature protection”).
• ASTP also protects the compressor against operation outside of the permitted usage boundaries.
This system operates autonomously and resets itself once the compressor has cooled down. Using this protection system means changes to the dimensions and IP rating (previously IP54, now IP21) of the electrical cab.
Tandem design
The new compressors have an oil inspection glass suitable for attaching an oil and gas equalisation line for tandem operation. Some compressor models with differing performance ratings can also be combined (see documentation). Oil level regulators are recommended for linked systems of several compressors. The inspection glass adapters can be used for connection Alco Controls Trax-Oil systems (OM3 CCE).
Mechanical data, design characteristics
The compressors have smaller casing dimensions and are lighter. Despite their low weight, the acoustic properties are comparable, and sometimes better, that earlier models. The different external dimensions also mean that the mounting holes in the base also have new dimensions (previously 220 x 220 mm, now 190 x 190 mm). This results in less space being required for installation.
Improved motor cooling using intake gas and the smaller dimensions have resulted in changes to the pipe connection positions. In integrated intake filter protects the compressor from particulate contaminants getting inside. A pump down capable check valve is also built into the outlet side on all models.
